Happiness...consists in giving, and in serving others.
By choosing Dru Barley Grass you are helping provide health care for those most in need in India. For every pack you buy, we donate 20p towards medical camps in rural areas of Gujarat in India.
The volunteers of the Dru Foundation Trust in India are working in the villages of Gujarat to help people whose income is too low to pay for medical care. Even though the medical standards in India can compete with those of the West, it is often even impossible for villagers to pay for the journey to see a doctor or visit a hospital. The team organizes regular medical camps to provide basic medical treatment for everyone. They can count on a large number of qualified doctors who attend to the needs of the villagers free of charge. Medicines are made available on doctors’ prescription and eventual further treatment in a hospital is sponsored. In preparation for a medical camp the team visits families in the surrounding villages to investigate their needs, and people who are ill are invited to attend the camp. Transport is organized and provided to enable people to attend.
Even though the aim is to organize and finance humanitarian aid as much as possible locally, extra money is needed to continue and to extend the aid to the poorest. Compared with the cost of medical treatment in the West, it is possible to receive high quality medical care in India for relatively low cost. However, as an average villager has an income of only 1 euro per day, it is often impossible for them to afford the even local low rates.
A Message of Dru Foundation Trust India 13.01.16
Greetings from the team in India.
Dru Foundation Trust India With the support of World Peace Flame and Heroes for Heroes Group commenced a General Medical Camp on Sunday 10/1/2016. We reached Kanda village in the morning. The accommodation was provided by the Government Primary school of Village Kanda. The purpose of organizing the camp was to make the people aware of their health. Wide publicity of camp was done in advance in surrounding villages by way of distribution of handbills, display of banners, and announcements on loudspeakers.
A team of well-known eye specialists, physicians, dentists, dermatologists and general practice doctors attended the camp. The camp was a fantastic great success and it was marvellous job from whole team. About 437 patients were diagnosed and given treatment. On this day, around 146 spectacles were given to the patients at a charitable rate. Patients were supplied with drugs including calcium, iron, multivitamins, analgesics, antipyretics and antacids tablets. Also, throughout the camp, villagers and patients, were examined and educated about the importance of maintaining oral health and its effects on cardiac health. Treatments were also given.
In addition other services like ECG and blood glucose test were done. It is with pride that we state that a total of 437 patients received the benefit of these services, and medicines were distributed free of charge to the patients. True doctors are not only those who heal but are also those who empower people and play a role in prevention of disease.
Thank you all very much for supporting us.
